By Katie Allred, ChurchCommunications.com

A great church logo provides churches with a solid foundation on how to brand themselves. Specific qualities make a logo a good and effective one. Let’s focus on a few aspects of a good church logo, and check out a few churches who have practiced these qualities effectively.
Authentic
Every single church is different. Although some share the same doctrinal beliefs, the fibers of each church vary. These variations are what makes the church its own unique place. Pinpoint what makes your church special, and be true to the heart of your congregation. Communicate the message of your people in an authentic and creative way.
Memorable
Time is no factor when it comes to connection. Everyone who walks through your doors will be affected by your church’s logo and what they associate with it. Choose a logo that will be memorable for good reasons. Keep it simple. Choose a simple mark and compliment it with a professional type and neutral color scheme. Select a logo that will draw interest and has room to build recognition.
Aesthetic
Finally, one other aspect of a good church logo is aesthetic. The Church should strive for excellence in all areas of ministry. Why neglect the area of design? Do all things for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom. Simply put, a church logo should be appealing to the eye, not just thrown together because “every church is doing it.”
Summary:
Be intentional, resourceful, and creative with the design of your logo. Know your people and the heart message of your church. The Church carries the responsibility to create excellent and God-glorifying things. A logo is the best place to start.
